| The good and bad of Jessica not renewing contract with TVB |
Whether the rumors are true or not we have to face the fact that she will not stay with TVB forever. In 2004 Jessica signed a two year one series per year contract, this is expire this year, even last time was a reluctant to sign it and only did when TVB made the contract one series per year. More freedom for Jessica to do other things like relax, and do non-TVB series. It has been on my mind for a while whether Jessica will again renew her contract. Rumors has been around that she will not, if there is any truth to that I believe that she will just sign with wherever Carrie Ma works now, and do per series contract with TVB, So it really not that bad.
Good:
Jessica at the top, this has been solidified several time by TVB… but it doesn’t feel like TVB really appreciates her anymore and especially the viewers. All I hear from people now about Jessica is that she plays the same roles over and over again… Well leaving TVB might give her the chance to give her more diversified roles. I have been waiting of the day that Jessica plays an evil character for a TVB series… semi-evil character in A Chinese Ghost story. Anyways leaving TVB might force TVB to not give her the same roles. Signing with a different company could mean Jessica will make more money. More freedom more bargaining power….
Angela Tong 'took over' her spotlight in Life Made Simple, she is with Roger Kwok everywhere! Not her fault really but…and she wasn't really involved with the Best Actress Award for the TVB anniversary, which almost every year she had a pretty good chance. Even in 2005 when the fight was between WAB ladies, Jessica was right there too, when the odd shifted so much more to Jessica favor, a shock to everyone (I admit even me)
I have to say as much as I would miss Jessica, it seems like she really isn't going anywhere with TVB. All I hear from people today is how much Jessica does the same exact role... she is so under appreciated these days, wait until there no more Jessica and others that already seldom do TVB series these day... and they are just left with the younger generation... wait then.(harsh but true)
